Campaign Purpose + Promotion

Windows 98 [a.k.a. 98 Gold, a.k.a. 98 FE (First Edition)], 98 Service Pack 1 (SP1), 98 SE Second Edition (SE) + Millennium Edition (ME) are •still• alive and well.
Please keep in mind that Windows 9x (95/98/ME) based Win32 OSes (Operating Systems) are installed on 50 to 70 million computers according to this study.
Some end users and businesses even consider resurrecting Windows 98 Second Edition.
Fact: In November 2003 most computers accessed Google using Windows 98.
Most small businesses, charities, schools and numerous individuals cannot afford to upgrade to Windows XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, 7, MacOS X or any other OS, even Linux, because they don't have the necessary resources, time and/or knowledge.
True, Linux distros are free, but someone needs to install, service, repair and maintain (in many cases) a large number of (eventually networked) computers, no matter what OS they may run, and those IT techs must get paid.
And most WinOS users today still do not trust using Linux on their desktops anyway. I know this will change in the near future, but we're not there yet.
Do you really think people are willing to go through such pain just to upgrade their good-working 98/ME computers? Ask them yourself.
Besides, those good ol' 9x based OSes are fairly easy and cheap to maintain and troubleshoot, even if Microsoft won't help anymore.
The point is that...
Enthusiast power users, programmers and IT specialists provide •free• support in their spare time at various web sites, forums, blogs etc.
